As North Broward Eagles, we are privileged to have an incredible team of student leaders who work tirelessly to make our North Broward home the best it can be. A significant contributor to the student-led atmosphere at North Broward is the Student Senate, a platform composed of students who work to bring about policy changes to represent student interests and advocate for their peers. Lexi Goldich, current President of the Student Senate, emphasizes the significance of the Student Senate, “Five years ago, we established the Student Senate as a way to give students a voice to elevate the North Broward community. The Student Senate is composed of a group of students who serve as the legislative body, advocating for student interests, facilitating participation in policy-making, and acting as a voice between the student body and administration. Student Senate is a position that students must run for to represent their class. The Senate is composed of 26 Senators, and each grade has five Senators who must be elected. The Athletics, Fine Arts, LPA, Residential Life, and STEAM departments each have an At-Large Senator that respective department heads nominate.” Because Senators are the liaison between students and faculty, it is imperative to know them, as these are the leaders whom our community trusts. Hence, the beginning of a new Eagle Gazette series, “North Broward’s Senators: Voices for Every Student,” where we will introduce you all to your leaders.
This first edition is focused on North Broward’s At-Large Senators. Within the Student Senate, there are five At-Large positions: Athletics, Fine-Arts, LPA, Residential, and STEAM. The At-Large representatives work to advocate for student interests mainly within their specific departments, ensuring representation for all students.
Athletics: Mateo Sanchez, a junior, serves as North Broward’s 2025-2026 At-Large Athletics Senator. Between his leadership commitment as the Athletics Senator and his role on our football team as varsity kicker and honorary team captain, he consistently demonstrates his commitment to North Broward both on and off the field. In his free time, Sanchez enjoys surfing and hanging out with his friends. Feel free to contact him at [email protected].

Notably, Salvin has founded her own small business, MmmmmCookiesByJordyn, with 10% of her profits going to Ellie’s Army Foundation. STEAM: Thach (Thomas) Le Vo, a senior, is North Broward’s 2025-2026 At-Large STEAM Senator. He is passionate about using technology and culture to bridge people together. He loves studying code, language, and art, serving as president of the Tech Society, ambassador for the Cultural Alliance, and founder of the Calligraphy Club. He is currently developing two AI projects and conducting an AI research study, and wants to use his platform as the STEAM Senator to increase inclusivity and connection within the field. He has competed in programming contests, volunteered in Vietnam to help kids learn English, and supported teachers in weaving AI into lessons and training.
