The 2025 cheer season has officially begun at North Broward! Their season kicks off with a week of preseason practices leading up to their first game in the Keys. Since then, they cheer on many sidelines, showcasing their spirit and eye-catching halftime routines. We’re here to share some insight on the North Broward cheer season so far. This week, the Eagle Gazette interviews two of our cheerleaders, Abbie Hull and Lily Shytle, sophomores at North Broward.
This season marks Lily’s first season as a cheerleader. When asked about her experience being a first-year cheerleader and flyer, she shares, “Being a first year cheerleader, and learning how to fly has definitely been a wild journey. In the beginning I am very nervous to fly because I am actually scared of heights which is kind of funny to say now. Although, with my teammate’s support they teach me so much with building my confidence. I always know that I want to cheer, so I thought why not try something new. I’m so happy I get to be a part of this special experience while also being a part of the high school musical which I love as well.” Watching the cheerleaders perform stunts at school events quickly becomes one of the highlights of the crowd’s experience. This insight on Lily’s growth and enthusiasm makes it even more exciting to watch. When reflecting on Friday night lights, we ask Lily what she enjoys the most. Lily explains, “I love getting to truly live out that high school dream of being a cheerleader and showing the school spirit. Interacting with the crowd, bonding with my teammates, and hyping up the football team is a highlight of Friday night lights.”
Homecoming week has officially arrived at North Broward and the Eagles cheerleaders are hard at work prepping for the exciting events to come! This week, students can look forward to a parade, pep rally, and of course, the big game!
These past few weeks, the NBP cheerleaders practice tirelessly to make sure their halftime and homecoming performances are extra special. We interview Abbie Hull to find out what she is most excited for during Homecoming Week: “I’m most excited for the pep rally,” she says. “It’s so much fun to show off the stunts we work so hard on, and to be in such a lively, fun environment with my teammates.”
As Homecoming week progresses and the season continues, the Eagles cheerleaders keep shining at school events and football games, bringing energy and spirit to each performance. From Friday night lights, to halftime routines, and the excitement of pep rallies, their hard work and enthusiasm stand out at every event. With athletes like Lily embracing new challenges and Abbie looking forward to big moments, it’s clear that this year’s cheer team is not only raising school spirit, but also creating memories that last forever.
